💥 As a child, Homelander is put through a series of rigorous tests, including having his hand forced into a furnace, being plunged into a tank of boiling water, being forced to fight strength-enhanced Vought guards, and being burned alive in an oven. In the last scenario, he recalls looking through the oven window and seeing one of the scientists passing the time trying to throw paper balls into a basket.

💥 In his first public mission, Homelander, still not fully in control of his own strength, kills a group of both terrorists and hostages, and subsequently levels a chemical plant in his attempt to cover it up. He feels guilt and panic over his actions — until it's made clear to him that Vought will smooth every such misstep over.

💥 Homelander meets Ryan for the first time, and introduces himself as his father. Soon afterward, they bond for the first time, as Homelander allows himself to be somewhat honest and vulnerable around his son.

💥 [ cw: suicide. ] While attempting to talk a woman back from jumping from a building, Homelander receives the news that Stormfront has killed herself. Distraught by the loss as well as the fact that it happened on his Vought-decided birthday, he forces the woman, who has begun to change her mind, to take the jump.

💥 Homelander asks Maeve if anything about their relationship was real. She tells him that she hated him from the start — and that she pitied him.

💥 At a rally, a protestor hits Ryan with a can. Homelander kills him in broad daylight. To his shock, the crowd all cheers.

💥 At age 13, while learning about Thanksgiving, he kills a tutor by hugging her too hard after she tells him she can be his mother, and that she loves him. The scientists monitoring him note that this is the first time he has killed someone not out of anger, but out of "isolation-induced depression."

💥 While trying to save a plane from a hijacking, Homelander destroys the plane's controls. With no way to safely land the plane, Homelander decides to let the plane go down, refusing Maeve's plea to save any of the passengers lest they tell anyone what happened.

💥 Homelander kills Stillwell after she tells him she's scared of him.

💥 Ryan kills Stormfront and Becca, and chooses Butcher over Homelander. Maeve intervenes before things can escalate further, telling Homelander that, if she releases the tape of the flight they let crash, no one will ever love him again.

💥 Homelander, still wishing for a family, tries and fails to sway his biological father, Soldier Boy, to his side.

💥 As his possible dissociative identity disorder worsens, Homelander speaks with himself in a mirror, telling himself that he needs to overcome his need for love. Subsequently, he goes back to the lab he was raised in and kills everyone except Barbara, the one scientist who didn't fear him, and denounces his humanity.
